Flexibility is part of the way Enterprise do business

Whilst finishing my Accountancy degree at the University of Essex, I started to think about preparing myself for the real world by seeking a position on a graduate career program. Whilst there were many out there, I still wasn’t completely convinced with which path I wanted to go down. Did I want to be in finance? Or did I want to be in customer service or marketing?

When I found the Graduate Management Trainee Program at Enterprise, the first thought that went through my head was about how many different opportunities I could seize, as long as I put the work and the effort in.

At the beginning of my Enterprise career as a management trainee I was based in Maldon, Essex where my knowledge and passion for the company developed so rapidly, that I was able to successfully pass my management qualification interview after just eight months. A massive achievement for myself in my first year with Enterprise.

Not long after achieving my first promotion to management assistant and actively applying for my first assistant manager opportunity, my circumstances changed and I was was in a position where I had to relocate 120 miles to the West Midlands. Initially I panicked, wondering what this meant for me and my career in Enterprise. I wasted no time reaching out to all of my colleagues and the human resources team that had always been so good to me to find out if there was an option available to transfer.

As it turns out, Enterprise showed complete flexibility with me and I was able to transfer from London to Birmingham very smoothly. Whilst it was very hard to say goodbye to all of the great people I had met along the way, I was looking forward to a new opportunity in the West Midlands. And  I was excited to to bring all of the knowledge I had gained in London to my new office.

So far, I have had a very positive start in the West Midlands, having applied for an assistant manager opportunity in my first two weeks of starting since my transfer.

It’s great working for such a big company as they have opportunities all across the country. If you are looking for a local graduate programme that offers the same opportunities and development wherever you decide to be based, then take a look at the UK-wide opportunities.
